I was never a dancer in high school, so I’ve always wondered why I recently became so interested. The best conclusion I’ve reached is that because I was once “hardcore” involved in music, basically from the 2nd grade through high school - towards high school when I became more serious, between early bird rehearsals, sections, classes, private lessons, symphony rehearsals, practicing, concerts, etc., I was spending on average at least 4-5 hours each day playing the violin/singing in choir/playing piano. The summer after my senior year we had daily rehearsals that lasted about 6 hours each, beginning the week after we graduated through July, when we left to compete the the Vienna Youth and Music Festival. (which, p.s. we won! …I had to throw that in…)

Anyway, the point is once I came to the U of O, with school and work, I didn’t have the hours to dedicated to music. Enter my newfound passion: dance! I figure it’s a way to fill the musical/artsy void I’ve been missing!! (except for this year I formed/joined a string quartet which is beginning to come together nicely!!!!) Anyway, thus far I’ve taken swing, hip hop, tap, salsa, meringue when I studied in Mexico (we were also taught this dance native to the Michocan region, but gosh knows if I remember it’s name)…

So this past term I took tap and salsa - my friend took a video unbeknownst to me; however, I now have my hands on the videos, so here they are!!! One final side note…as I am still an amateur, don’t judge me (yet) on my dancing abilities!!

She Loves The Moon’ is a form of installation art, an interactive love story found around the streets of San Francisco. In order to ‘read’ the book you choose the arrows based on the story line you would like to follow. There are two endings to the story being told on the streets; one happy and one tragic:

Today in the paper, it was announced that beginning in October 2009, the United States government is launching a new citizenship test. I’m always wondered how Americans would fare, honestly I’m assuming not very well. While I’m pondering this, my dad cuts into my thoughts by announcing a headline in the local paper: Man Accused of Hitting Mom With Polish Sausage. Yup, premonition confirmed.

A few weeks ago I was selected to participate in the Colaboratory internship which is sponsored by the Portland Advertising Federation. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited!!!! This is going to be a fabulous experience and I can’t wait to spend an extended amount of time in Portland.

Anyway, I just had my second wave of excitement as I opened the mail today because I received a list of the agencies I will interning with:

My sister and I were looking through YouTube the other night, when she came across a presentation created in after effects. What an awesome program - there is quite a bit of potential for some really great work to be made with this program…

Esta semana estoy tomando una clase de film para mi título en Español. En mi clase, hemos analizado muchas películas y me parece muy interesante como eventos, carreras, lugares, maneras de pensamiento, culturas, etc. por todo el mundo por un gran variedad de carreras son muy similares. Yo tuve esta realización cuando analizamos la primera película.

En el programa de anuncios (mi otra énfasis) pasamos mucho tiempo hablamos de contando las cuentas. Pues, es lo mismo cosa que hemos hablado en mi clase de film esta semana: contando las cuentas, la incorporación de la cultura, arquetipos, los viajes, etc.

También, un concepto grande en los anuncios es “¿a quien le importa?” y “¿y que?” y como relatar la cuenta y escribir y representar una cuenta entonces tiene valor a las personas.

Además, especialmente porque la influencia de la cultura hispana, es más prominente cada día en la sociedad de los EEUU – ha sido tan beneficial ver los valores y representaciones de la cultura hispana por las películas y por las discusiones en clase para relatar la cultura hispana a la cultura que tenemos aquí en los EEUU.
